FOUR CAN'T MISS RECRUITS
February 3, 2011 - College coaches, and fans for that matter, believe that every recruit will be a contributor to their program. Of course, that isn't the case. Players don't get better, have grade problems, can't adjust to college life and don't put in the work to be a Division I college player. That's why there are so many on the sidelines of a football game who will see little playing time during their careers.
But there are those individuals who not only have the talent, but the internal drive that makes them stand out and eventually become starters or all-conference players.
One day after signing 19 new recruits to the class of 2011, let's take a look at four and see why they could be called "can't miss" prospects.
KYLE CAMERON - The Toledo Central Catholic product will compete at the center position for the Rockets. A two time All-Ohio selection, Cameron was one of the first players to commit to the class of 2011, and helped recruit other players to Toledo.
"Kyle is just a dominating offensive lineman," CC head coach Greg Dempsey said. "He's relentless from the snap of the ball until the whistle blows. He goes hard on every play."
Cameron worked hard to get better every year and bought in early to Tim Beckman's program.
With Kevin Kowalski graduating, Cameron could find himself in a battle with redshirt freshman Jeff Myers to take Kowalski's job.
His 6-2,280 pound frame will only fill out more, and he could be pushing 300 pounds as a sophomore.
JUSTIN OLACK - A tall rangy wide receiver, Olack is one of those guys who make things happen on the field. With track speed and a 35" vertical jump, Olack (6-3) presents a big target for his quarterback.
Add in the fact that he has great hands and fights for every ball, the Massillon Tiger has a ton of potential.
The former Pittsburgh commitment, is an excellent student who has already shown that he can play at the highest level of high school football. As he prepares to come to Toledo, there will be opportunities to play immediately as the Rockets need a big receiver to compliment Eric Page. Olack could be the guy.
EDDIE NORRILS - Another local product, Norrils could be equally effective as a receiver or defensive back, but will start out as a DB.
A four-year point guard on St. John's basketball team, Norrils has shown leadership skills and the ability to compete at the highest level in two sports. He was a two-time All-Ohio selection in football while leading one of the best basketball teams in the state.
He had 17 career interceptions and over 1,000 receiving yards as a senior. It's going to be hard keeping him off the field, wherever he ends up.
TRENT VOSS - Voss played on four straight state championship teams. His excellent speed allows him to play at all three levels on defense as shown by his eight career interceptions. At 6-3, he has the ability to easily play at 240 pounds.
Voss' senior stats are off the chart, with 140 tackles, 16 sacks, four interceptions, four fumble recoveries and five forced fumbles.
Speed, and his ability to make the big hit, make him special.
He may not play as a freshman, but his future is very bright.
